Based upon miles flown, GeoDigital has more airborne power-line mapping and inspection experience than any other group in North America. GeoDigital personnel were some of the first to introduce aerial video mapping technology (1990) and LiDAR services (1998) to the utility marketplace and we have remained an industry leader.

GeoDigital and its subsidiaries have to date mapped over 200,000 miles and more than 1,800,000 structures for numerous electric utility companies in Canada and the United States. A heritage in LiDAR mapping, corridor inspection and asset management that makes us uniquely qualified to understand the challenges faced by utilities and to address their evolving needs as regulatory, financial and Safety requirements evolve.

With the acquisition of GeoDigital in December 2004 by the current management we set out to develop an integrated solution to the industry needs for LiDAR and Imagery that would provide usable data and actionable reports in record time, with improved accuracy and significantly reduced costs. To achieve this we developed a totally new methodology for both acquisition and processing.

Our unique approach to the challenges of near real time processing and low cost operations draws on our prior expertise in many fields. Our deployment of equipment using air ride trucks with dedicated computer processing suites is based upon techniques used in the film and television industries. The camera, Laser, Image Stabilization and Geo-positioning technology is all drawn from our extensive work for the US and Canadian Military in the field of Reconnaissance and surveillance, as is much of the advanced image and LiDAR processing.

When combined these techniques and technologies have allowed us to offer, since mid 2008, select utility clients the delivery of critical data such as FAC-003 vegetation clearance reports; asset defect reports; and high resolution geo-referenced ortho and oblique imagery within hours of each flight., while preserving the ability to deliver survey grade LiDAR for Engineering use when needed.

Furthermore we have achieved this at a small fraction of the costs typically associated with conventional LiDAR imaging technology.  This commercial offering exclusive to GeoDigital and known as Grid^Intel is currently integrated into our new line of airborne inspection Hardware known as TCOR PLMI™ (power line Maintenance and Inspection) and is offered as a turn-key service with data delivery being offered both conventionally or in a web enabled viewing environment that is a secure professional (rather than consumer) variant of the Google Earth / Microsoft Virtual Earth environment. This multi year service is offered by GeoDigital under the trade name Grid^Intel On Line™.  We invite you to explore our web site further and read more on our industry leading solutions to your needs as a utility professional.

Our Precision Forestry Solutions are helping customers take their vegetation management programs to the next level.
